Dear Members of the ASB Community,
The world has changed considerably since March. The pandemic and resulting closure of on-site operations as we knew them challenged us to create new ways of supporting those we serve and collaborating with our community partners in that work.
Since mid-March, through our phone and online programming, we have been able to work with individuals remotely on everything from home management training, adaptive technology, and braille instruction to peer support groups, a health speaker series, and movement classes. New participant intakes are ongoing, and more remote education and training, as well as programming through growing community partnerships, will continue to come online in the coming weeks and months.
Given the continued uncertainty of the coronavirus trajectory and the successful movement of our services to the remote setting, we have made the decision not to reopen our Walnut Street facility for on-site Human Services programming until January 11, 2021 at the earliest.
We did not make this decision lightly. Rather, we continue to prioritize and carefully consider the regional coronavirus-associated risk and the potential health and safety ramifications for our staff and the population we serve, many of whom are seniors with medical concerns.
We are grateful for your flexibility and willingness to engage with us and each other in new ways to continue building skills for more independent living. Please continue to reach out to us through our new contact number at 215-821-6151. You can also refer individuals seeking support to reach us at that number. And do continue to check out our At Home Resources & Support page on asb.org for new activities and resources to explore.
We look forward to continuing to connect with you remotely and to the continued expansion of our remote education, training, and programming.
Sincerely,
Karla S. McCaney, President & CEO
